moody chick

Elly has been having growing pains lately and today when she had another "talking to" I just loved the seriousness in her face. Geo thought it was mean or not cool to take her picture at that time. I disagree. I love seeing her beauty in every emotion and I think she will too. Since the shot was a little blurry I added a slight smudge filter to it. It's moody and so different from all her other pictures. I really like it.

We've been chilling out all day together, played Uno, ate leftover pizza, watching movies... Just being a family. Good times.

no more teens

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE!
Wow, the day has been so busy! Poor Jake, his 20th birthday celebrating didn't even really begin until late tonight. Geo and I were stuck working on a job then delivering it and picking up pizza and munchies. Thankfully, I made his cake earlier today, thanks to our neighbor Santa for supplying the eggs. It's all good now, he's happily not a teen anymore and his two best buddies are here celebrating with him.
I made him this card. I love the look of it. I used Basic Grey Obscure paper. well, it's late, I better get back to the party before I fall out for good! I slipped this post in just in time! I'm determined not to miss a day! LOL!

190

Just an ordinary day around here today. I'm not in much of bloggin mood, but I wanted to post my PoTD. It's day #190 and I am hanging in there. Hopefully I will feel more talkative, or should I say, "type-ative" again soon.
Geo got me my very own little macro Bat chick and a bff to hang with her, Catgirl. They stand at about 2 inches tall & are so cute! I need to come up with some fun scenes for them to pose in. Any suggestions? LOL!
Tomorrow is Jake's 20th birthday. Wow.
Oh, and Jen and I have been web-caming via Yahoo, SO fun! we are going to be scrapping again so look us up and join in!

Sew cool!!

I took my 2nd sewing class tonight, Sewing 201. I made a tote bag with fabrics I chose in the very little amount of time I had to shop. I completely intended to get the fabrics ahead of time and wanted something superhero-ish. Well, best laid plans right? HA! So, I got there later than I planned, and had less money to spend also so I was sort of frazzled. I quickly searched through all the bolts in each section of the store and finally just grabbed two that made me say "ooh," they went together so, ya why not!? The chick that was cutting it gave me some questionable looks and was commenting on it making her dizzy. I thought, 'Ya, whatever it's gonna look,"Way cool!" So I finally make it back to the classroom and it turns out that I was the only one there! I actually loved that it worked out that way. My instructor was awesome. I love how my tote turned out and so does everyone else. Geo LOVES it, Dylanie wants it and Jake asked if he could give it to his girlfriend. HA! Jordan and Elly were like, "you MADE that?! Cool!" LOL! I can't wait to get more fabrics to make more. :~) See you tomorrow!

Summer+Day=

H2O play!!Days like this help me remember that I loved summer when I was a kid. Seeing Elly out there playing in the sun, and water leaves me feeling nostalgic.
I've had a lot on my mind since turning 40, I guess that's why my recent posts have been so short. But we'll have to talk about that another day. For now, enjoy summer!
See you tomorrow!

Instyle!

A few months ago Elly alerted me to a commercial she thought I just "have to see!!" So I followed her into the family room and she had paused the Instyler commercial. I'm sure you've seen it. The rolling brush hair styler/straightener. I told her I thought it was very cool and joked that I wanted it for my birthday. She told me that she would call the "package guy" and get me one. Weeks pass and I playfully remind her about the Instyler and ask if she called the package guy yet? LOL! She asked me how and I suggested she tell daddy. She did, Dylanie too. It turned out that Dylanie wanted one as well, in fact she wrote all the info down for him to get it for me... One night last week the full infomercial came on for it and Geo and I watched it. They of course had a deal to buy one and get another completely free! So I decided, yes! I really do want to try it for 30 days. {wink} So Geo ordered it for my birthday and it arrived today. The girls and I washed and styled our hair. It was a bit of a PITA because the unit is heavy and designed to burn if you try to use two hands. I'm sure I will get used to it eventually. Our hair did turn out nicely although you can hardly tell in the after photo we took. LOL!

Happy Independence Day!

I hope you all had a great holiday! We are still going! Getting ready to watch a movie. Either Independence Day or National Treasure. We've had a long full day. It was fun. Lot's of time spent with Geo's family and then my family. Just before dark we headed home so we could do fireworks. We stopped to grab some dessert coffees, and parked on a dark street to watch the city fireworks for free, it was an awesome show! Then we came home and did our own little light show. Good times.
See you tomorrow!

Happy Friday!

I caught Elly jumping on the bed in my room this afternoon. Uh oh! better grab the CAMERA!! LOL!! She cracks me up.
Jen and I attempted to cyber scrap together again today. She chose this sketch to follow. Since she has been ruthlessly teasing me about my upcoming birthday, so I went ahead and made a very loose interpretation of the sketch using a favorite photo of me from when I was approximately 3 years old. I'm pretty sure my dad gave me the robot for my birthday. It cracks me up how I'm nearly camouflaged against the yellow cabinets in that horrid dress! Honestly, it slightly mortifies me to see how often my mother dressed me in yellow, I have a lot of pictures of me in yellow, even a group shot of me with several cousins and we are ALL wearing yellow! WTH? It's no wonder it's my least favorite color now. BUT! That day I went thrift shopping, guess what I bought Elly? Yep, a yellow dress. {SIGH} But it's cute! ( remembering...I also got her a yellow t-shirt.) Yikes!! what's happened to me?! LOL! I used SU!'s new set "lots of bots" as well as their exclusive matchbox lables die, and DCWV papers and spellbinders nestabilities. Oh, and the size is 11 x 8.5 (landscape)
I hope you all have a wonderful, safe 4th of July. See you later in the evening after fireworks!

Summer... it's here.

On my way home from the doctor this morning, I stopped to take some pictures of these flowers. This species has said, "summer is here" to me every since I was a little girl. They are always in full bloom right before the 4th of July and I've always thought they looked like fireworks. This incredibly gorgeous, and plump bumble bee visited while I was there and I couldn't resist taking a photo of him too. It turned out to be my favorite picture for the day. (click it to view him better)
In case you are wondering, the flowers are "Lily of the Nile"... Jen helped me find out the name and information of the flowers. Thanks!! While searching, I came across a lot of other "firework" looking flowers and now I want to plant a bunch in my yard for next summer! LOL!
See you tomorrow!
